Happy Monday and welcome to the blog. If you are a new visitor, today is a great day to make your first visit as I am sharing the creative efforts of some of the members of the Tulip Tree blog community, the results of a group project we have been working on for several weeks. For those of you who were anticipating this post, your wait has come to an end! I am extremely excited and very proud to share these works with our readers, and many many thank you’s are in order to everyone who spent the time it took to participate in Images from Earth. As always, I am thrilled to receive your creations and it is really a privilege and a joy to be able to come together with friends from all over the world to work on creative projects together, quite amazing really.

I would like to make mention that little B, Adrienne’s son, age 5, got so carried away by this project he took too many photos to fit in this presentation. I have decided to do a breakout post to share his other photographs set to the music of the music he photographed to. That post will follow tomorrow (for now he has selected his favorite to share here). I would also like to thank Mecha (hugs! abrazos! abbracci!), who keeps saying she is not an artist and has been a little reluctant to share her own artwork, that is up until today. She is full of passion and zest for life, and am thrilled to pieces that she has begun expressing herself visually, and am so proud to share her work here. Huge thanks are in order to Adrienne, Silvia, Genie, Renee, Noona and to little B and Mecha for taking part in Images from Earth, for creating such beautiful pieces and for inspiring me to keep going with our collaborative projects.

A note about the project itself, I was inspired to put this project together after watching an interesting documentary called The Heart is A Drum Machine, a film that flits from interview to interview with various musicians, artists, scientists, doctors, people from every vocation imaginable that asks “What is music?” During one segment, author Ann Druyan (wife of astrophysicist Carl Sagan) spoke of their involvement with the Voyager Sounds of Earth project, and in particular the inclusion of Beethoven’s Cavatina on the Golden Record. That prompted me to look up the record, and eventually sparked the idea for this project, Images from Earth, and here we are. Enjoy!
