Well hello again! I’m here, without any sketches of pistachios or angry flowers, but with some music tidbits that may be of interest and a smattering of other things to write about on this slightly flaky (snow that is) Wednesday.
First off, I just heard word that tomorrow none other than The Penny Black Remedy will be taking over Anarchy on the Airwaves, a program out of London, England that streams out of the internet radio station TotalRock. TPBR are listed as appearing from 18:00-21:00 GMT, which translates to 1-4pm EST. You can find more information here. I’ll surely be tuning in to listen.
In the meantime, if you head over to The Yalla Yallas website, they are streaming both their first album, Act of Defiance, and their most recent, Diamond In Dirt, in their entirety. I’ve written a lot about them in the past here on the blog, so if you poke around you’ll turn up an interview I did with Rob Galloway last year, as well as a review of the Diamond in Dirt demos when the album was in it’s early stages. I’ll be talking with Rob again soon and will have another interview with him on the blog in the near future.
And now on to project business. The countdown to Mondo Instante #4 has begun! From the looks of it over on the Tulip Tree Facebook page, we’re on track for another record number of participants in the event! With every Mondo event we gain new people, and it’s great to see the word spreading slowly! Evidence that it’s becoming an institution? Last night I had my first dream that involved the event. I dreamed that I was at some remote beach surrounded by cliff walls, and I was standing in what appeared to be a cove. Some friends, and even my grandma Maxine (my bass playing, free spirited grandma that was and always will be a huge influence on me) was there. We were set to take the photo and I realized I had lost my clock in the water. My grandma fished it out for me, but it was someone else’s watch. When I looked at the time, we were 6 minutes late, and I panicked. At the last moment, a friend and I took photos of each other, but the photo of me turned out nothing like it should have and I was perplexed. And then I woke up. Ah, Mondo Instante, inspiring distress, via a dream, over missing that singular moment in time we are set to take photos around the world together! It’s definitely becoming a part of the psyche over in my household, hopefully yours, too!
Mondo Instante reminder sign up
To help alleviate any stress, I’m still trying out different ways to alert participants with reminders, as the group event over on Facebook has caused some confusion (the event requires a time of at least 30 minute duration, does not allow time zone information, and does not adjust time for people in different parts of the world). I have set up an email reminder group, and if you wish to be part of that let me know, and make sure I have your email address if I don’t already. I’ve sent out the first reminder today, and another will be sent tomorrow, and again 1 hour prior to the event (Friday, January 21, 2011). I will send out a Tweet as well, so if you wish to receive notification that way you can find the blog there on Twitter by seeking out @tuliptreestudio .
T’is all for now, at the moment I am immersed in designing the program for my daughter’s play, which I am doing as well as some assistance with set design as we did last year. That said, the Angry Flowers and Pistachios are still beckoning me, but may not come as quickly as they have in the past several days.
PS – yesterday’s Trash City Radio Show is currently uploading to the archives, check back shortly for that!
