Blog slumber coming to an end

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve touched this blog (which is sad), or perhaps looked at in a different way, a much needed battery recharge (which is good). Just a few days ago I had a moment while walking through the hot, bustling streets of NYC during a very recent trip there that felt like a little adrenaline shot, and I had that delightful yearning sensation of feeling I needed to get back to the blog and continue writing and creating.  Maybe it’s the sunshine, the change of scenery, or just the ebb and flow of my mental activity (firing and misfiring alike) lately, but I feel like I’ve got loads to share and accomplish here once again, and that’s great.

The next “meaty” post will be the results of this past weekend’s Mondo Instante #8 so by tomorrow I will be sharing the images that came in from the Mondo “instant” that took place on Saturday, May 28th 2011 at 20:00 UTC (which was 4pm local time for me and others in the EST time zone, something else for you if you are outside that area).

During the NYC trip my sister, cousin and I walked all four days—two of which were solid 8 hour+ days covering an estimated 15+ miles on foot. We saw, ate and drank plenty and I’ve got lots of things to share, so be prepared for this blog to be active again. The engine’s starting to rev up now. Until then…!

Song of the Day: BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE – Medicine Show (live at the Roseland Ballroom NYC 2011)

If I could have been anywhere last night . . .

Big Audio Dynamite at the Roseland Ballroom, New York City, NY

Posted in celebration of them touring again/as a consolation prize to myself. As irony would have it, when I first got word that this show had been announced early last month, I happened to be standing outside Radio City Music Hall at another show, only a few blocks away from the Roseland.  A few minutes after hearing that, I also learned there was a fire currently burning at the Roseland. And a few minutes after that a fire truck sped by. (It turned out the fire was luckily fairly insignificant). It was a very surreal few moments, and is even more so now watching this video clip of the event, knowing that it all now exists in the past. The only thing that makes things a little better for missing it is hearing the stories and seeing the photos from friends who attended the show last night. Cheers to Mick and co. for the return of Big Audio Dynamite!

I’ll now send you over to The Clash Blog for some further reading, a piece on their performance this past weekend at Coachella.

Bright Eyes 3-9-2011 Radio City Music Hall in photos

And now for the last in the series of three posts regarding Bright Eyes and their two performances at Radio City Music Hall. This post contains some of the  images from the second Bright Eyes show my sister Ady and I took. Adrienne has uploaded the entire album (over 200 photos in all  from both nights), which you can find on flickr.

Visitors to this blog are more than welcome to share these but please, if you use them in any way or repost, please give credit where credit is due and give a little mention to this blog where you found them http://tuliptreepresents.com, it would be very much appreciated.

The link to the rest of the images can be found on flickr via the link here. Within the blog, you can go here for some of the  images from the March 8 show at Radio City Music Hall and here for a review of the March 9 performance. Enjoy!
