Time to hand the Friday Song of the Day torch over to Marianne for her selection of gypsy/Balkan/Roma music for us this week! Enjoy.
Hello, a new friday and a new Balkan kinda Blog
this time whit a little peep into the world of the most amasing kind of music of them all, the so called BALKAN BEAT, this name was given by Robert Soko, a young bosnian refugee in Berlin, in the beginning of the 90′ ,he started to be interested in his roots music, he grew up whit punk, and was already a DJ at ex yogoslavic’s meet up’s in berlin, he started to mix the 2 things.
in 20 years, it has enriched and covered mixes, and contermination whit almost any other music..and this today brings hordes of crazy dancers, regularly going mad, all over Europe, and is now slowly claiming it’s space in Rome to.
so here you will have a few of my fave peaces, those that will never have to leave my sets for other songs……this is a remix of DJ Dunkelbunt
Next video must before KULTUR SHOCK, a historic band born ause of a bunch of immigrants in Seattle, this band is the pure essence of Multi kulti, and close to be a concept, more than just a band,
third choise brings us to a song that I have a special relation to… as it was the first video made of this band, I have played this from my first set….and will keep doin .-)
so you see… even Gypsy souls, can pull a Tango…once again:
this next is a mixed version of an original Erika Serre song, “Te was”, and a popular gypsy song”caje Sukarije”… remixed by Erika her self, and a french band called CARAVAN PASSE
of course, theres no Balkan GIG’s whitout a brass tune, so here you are DEVLA… a true lovestory between a trumpet, and it’s man
Enjoy your weekend
