Continuing our weekly feature, I’m going to turn the blog over to Marianne in Italy with her fabulous Multi Kulti Pandora’s Vase, selections of music with gypsy/roma/balkan roots. I’m not going to say any more because I want to get right to it. Enjoy!
Hello, and welcome back here where I’m ready to slip outta the vase, the biggest disaster af them all … LOVE… as it will be V-day next Monday, I thougth it could be fun whit some love songs.
Just as love has many faces, I have had fun, searching for songs seeing it from different views….
Can tell you …..I heard such an amount of lovesongs, in the past week, that I’ll have enough of it for life
but this is what I have chosen for you:
One of the sadest love’s, must be when forces of hate between persons whit diffrent etnic background, makes that love impossible-
GYPSY CZ is a checz Band, their singer Radoslav Banga, aka ‘Gipsy’, was born in Prague where he lived as a street kid from the age of 13 and he has since risen to be the Ambassador of Minorities in CZ during the European Year of Equal Opportunities, 2007. living on the streets he connected whit Hip-Hop and and Rap, wich is also what the Band do mostly, but they also made this struggling song, ( sungn in checz, normally lyrics are in romanes )

Love can also be like this genious gypsy version of an old Edith Piaff song, the artist is :
ERIKA SERRE and she’s a lady that you will come to know well from here … she has one of the most amazing voices I’ve heard, and can do incredible things whit it, this is like the former video, very different from what the artist does usually . enjoy:

KIRIL & ESMA REDZDEPOVA LOVE IS MULTI KULTI…. and the next song, is a cool collaboration between two artists…whom could not have more different backgrounds, one born in Jamaica, and the other a gypsy, from ex Yugoslavia….. a song about love among people

DRUNKEN BALORDI All this talk about love, so how to forget my own personal favorite band .. the Brixton based Gypsy Punk band, who has made me their biggest fan from the very first tune I heard, that first song was a love song… the one I heard, was a only quite raw demo, but this version, is included in their debut album.

The last link, as last week, will be a clip from a film, and talking film about love. I have chosen: A French youngster, takes a trip to eastern Europe, to search fo a singer, whom his dad used to listen to, he did not find her, but learned a lot about life…and about music to.
